Please review what each ND focuses in. If you have more than one concern book with whoever treats your biggest priority, you can always be referred to other NDs within the clinic.

Yes we do. Please see the information about this here

If you would like to know if you have naturopathic coverage and how much you are required to contact your insurance company as we are unable to put through any insurance until the date and time of your appointment.

Yes, we can requisition standard medical labs.

Because we are private health care your lab fees will be paid out of pocket (you may be able to claim this with your insurance afterwards, we cannot direct bill it for you)

Typical lab fees run from $30-$500 depending on what tests are required.

Yes we have a dispensary on site. This is for patients only.

Naturopathic Doctors are not available via email. To speak with your naturopathic doctor please book a follow up visit via our online booking website. For quick questions regarding your current treatment plan or health updates that will take 15 minutes or less you can book a 15-minute phone follow-up appointment. For anything that will take longer than that please book an in-office follow up visit.

You have choices! You can either write it down and bring it in to your follow up visit or you can book a 15-minute phone call appointment with your ND here

Follow up appointments are an important part of your care. We typically book 45-minutes for a follow up visit. If you are reviewing lab work, receiving acupuncture, doing a pap exam, or have a complicated case, it is wise to book a 60-minute appointment for your follow up to ensure you have enough time.

If you have a straightforward question about your current treatment that can be answered over the phone you can book a 15-minute call.

Services

Naturopathic medicine is a form of primary health care that prioritizes diet, lifestyle, and nutrient support (vitamins/supplements). We offer a comprehensive assessment of your overall health and are always trying to treat the whole person (not just the disease!). Our goal is to look for a root cause and connect the dots between all your health concerns.

We are a regulated health profession under the Alberta Health Professions Act.

Dr. Anna Garber, ND: pediatric health (patients aged 12 and under), digestive health, cardiovascular health, sexual health, fatigue, immune health

Dr. Sam Clouthier, ND: anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, ADD/ADHD, borderline personality, PTSD, substance use, 2SLGBTQIA+ health including gender affirming care

Dr. Jacinta Sullivan, ND: fertility, thyroid health, autoimmune disease, PCOS

If you have concerns that span more than one of our NDs please book with whoever treats your highest priority concern. You can be referred within the clinic after your first visit if necessary.

Absolutely, this can be done through our online booking system!

Patients must have an appointment sometime in the future in order be added to our waitlist.

Yes, we offer video appointments for any patients living in Alberta.

We require your first appointment be completed in-person.

Yes we do. We require you complete an initial assessment prior to receiving acupuncture.

All of the information can be found here

Intravenous vitamin therapy is high-dose vitamins that can be administered directly into a patient’s vein. Because the vitamins bypass the digestive tract they are much better absorbed.

Intravenous vitamin therapy can support a variety of health concerns including stress management, energy levels, athletic performance, anxiety, mood support, substance use, overall health, skin health, and more

Yes we do! These are available to current patients who have been prescribed them by one of the NDs at Juniper Naturopathic Clinic.

We are unable to offer B12 injections without an initial consult first.

Dispensary Information

The purpose of this dispensary is to provide convenient and affordable products for our patients.

The naturopathic doctors have invested a great deal of time into researching the highest quality products, optimal forms and dosages, while maintaining economic price points.

We only carry professional lines. This means that these products are not available unless you have a prescription from a regulated health care provider. This is a rule put in place by the brands themselves, not by Juniper Naturopathic Clinic. This is the reason why we cannot dispense products for your friends/family without an assessment and prescription.

When your ND prescribes a product for you, they do so based on the latest evidence of safety and efficacy. Side effects will always be a risk with any interventions.

Because we are not a store front, we cannot offer returns or exchanges for supplements because they caused side effects or did not ‘work’. This is in line with practices in pharmacies and other dispensaries.

Please take your product exactly as it is prescribed by your naturopathic doctor (ND). You are responsible for following your script and keeping it in a safe place – please ensure you don’t lose this; you may want to refer to it.

Your naturopathic doctor provided you with a printed script that explains how, when, and why you are taking this product. Your treatment plan was created just for you and as such your prescription may differ from the standardized one on the product label – when in doubt follow the instructions from your ND.

If you require a refill on your product, please stop by the clinic (no need to call ahead). Be prepared to provide with your name and which products you’d like to refill (including the name, form, and brand). You can see which products are “out of stock” above. Please recall we are open Tuesday-Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-2pm.

While we appreciate the business, we are not able to sell products for your friends/family members who are not patients. If you’d like your friends/family to access the dispensary, please encourage them to book an appointment so we can ensure that the products are safe and indicated. We welcome referrals!

We do not operate as a store. As such, our dispensary is for patients only. If you are already taking a certain vitamin or supplement and would like to start purchasing it from the dispensary, please speak with your ND during an appointment about this so they can put it on your prescription.

Your naturopathic doctor may be able to recommend a similar public line if you’d like to purchase your product elsewhere. Please speak to them about this. Products are not all interchangeable and doses/forms vary between products and brands. We have chosen these brands because they are affordable while maintaining the highest standard of quality and therapeutic dosing.

If you like to purchase a product that is not the product (or alternative) recommended by your ND please be aware that we cannot guarantee it will be as efficacious or economic. If you’d like your ND’s approval for a new product, please bring it up at your next follow up (do not email us pictures of it).

To purchase from the dispensary one of NDs must have recommended a specific product to you. If you’d like to add something to your protocol so that you can purchase it from us, you are welcome to request this at your next follow up visit.

About Treatment Protocols

Like pharmaceutical drugs, herbs/vitamins/supplements can have side effects. Your naturopathic doctor will have reviewed any possible side effects with you. Common side effects include headache, nausea, heartburn, and bloating. If these occur, try taking your product with food. If you continue to experience side effects discontinue for a few days and see if they resolve, then reintroduce the product.

These side effects are typically harmless and improve within a few days. If side effects persist, please book a phone with your doctor (booking can be done online via our website).

Please note that bright yellow urine is a common side effect that does not require medical attention or discontinued use.

If you have any concerning symptoms like vomiting, dizziness, fainting, chest pain, severe headache, or mood changes it is best to make your way to the nearest walk-in clinic or emergency department.

Risks are associated with all interventions. “Natural” does not always mean safe. It is possible to take too much of these products and as such you must follow the instructions.

It is also possible that these products may interact with each other or with any prescriptions drugs you are taking, that is why it is important to tell your naturopathic doctor about all the medications and supplements you are currently taking (even ones you are taking only occasionally, like Advil).

In general, most products are safe to be taken any time of day, with or without food and are okay to take alongside each other – your ND will tell you if there are exceptions to this rule.

Your ND will have noted on your script whether your products are safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Please refer to your script for this information. If you are unsure, discontinue your products and book a follow up visit with your ND to discuss. We cannot provide this advice via email.
